Fransisco Rodriguez vs. Mariano Rivera

New York has two of the best closing pitchers in baseball. For 14 years, the New York Yankees have had a historic closer in Mariano Rivera. Rivera has 491 saves and his best year was 2004 with 53 saves. He has a career ERA. of 2.29 racking up 958 strikeouts. He has a nasty cutter and a flaming fastball.
Across the river in Flushing Queens, the New York Mets have an all-star closer in Fransisco Rodriquez. He also is known as K-Rod. He made history in 2008, reaching 62 saves getting pass Bobby Thigpen for most saves in a single season. He did have 7 blown saves last year one being against the Mets. Here in 2009, K-Rod was perfect until June 12th when the Mets played the Yankees. He did get Alex Rodriguez on a popup to end the game, but Luis Castillo dropped the ball and Fransisco Rodriguez got his first blown save of the season. He was 16 for 16. He is now 17 for 18.

Who is the better closer in New York? The historic Mariano Rivera or the always perfect Fransisco Rodriguez

First Place Winners

Guess who’s in first now!! Not the Mets!! The New York Yankees are actually in first place, and it’s about time! They have stunned millions with their beginning of the season’s losses, and all their recent wins. They really had gotten better since A-Rod came back. The Yankees are in first in the American League, Eastern Division. In the central division, the Detroit Tigers have the wins. In the western division, the Texas Rangers are in first.
In the National League’s Eastern Division, the Philadelphia Phillies are in first. In the central division, the Milwaukee Brewers are in first. In the western division, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in first. So I want to know, who’s going to make it all the way to the World Series 2009?

BULLDOZED TEAM

The Knicks got knocked against the Chicago Bulls. It was one tough game with the score 110-103. The Knicks had no chance since the beginning of the game when the Bulls shot ahead with 25 points made by Kirk Hinrich. Then the Bulls went ahead with 18 points made by their rookie, Derrick Rose.
The Knicks didn’t do so badly with Wilson Chandler leading the Knicks with 26 points. Also, Al Harrington added 23 points, and David Lee made 17 shots and got 13 rebounds. At that time, the Knicks took the lead trying to keep the score 84-81.
While entering the final quarter the Knicks were outscored, when the Bulls got 19 points and the Knicks only got 6 in the last 7 minutes.

Baseball Season

Yesterday, the New York Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds, the score, 2-1. It was a tight game, but it was the outstanding pitching by Johan Santana that helped the game. Santana won the game with seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
The New York Yankees didn’t do so well in the opening of the baseball season. The Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles yesterday with the score 10-5. C.C Sabithia didn’t do his best pitching at last night’s game.
All the Yankee and Mets fans have fun because this is going to be one crazy baseball season!

Lance Stephenson: Should He Stay or Should He Go?

Lance Stephenson, the 6’5” shooting guard for Lincoln High School has to decide whether he should go to college or play in Europe. He can’t jump straight into the NBA because of the new rule stating, each high school basketball player must have one year education in college. Many NBA and college basketball players are moving to Europe to play basketball. Many of these superstars are getting better deals than they are in the U.S.A. Moving to Europe can also be the resolution for free agents, college players and high school players like, Lance Stephenson.
Stephenson is thinking about jumping to Europe, but he is still thinking about going to college. Some of his college choices are Kansas, Maryland, St. John’s, UCLA, and Wake Forest. He has already visited Kansas in February 20 of this year and Maryland on January 31 of this year as well. He has already been recruited by Kansas’s head coach Bill Self, but is mildly interested in going there. He also has mild interests about going to any other school that he has applied for, but he has narrowed it down to three top college choices; Kansas, Maryland, and St. John. He’s expected to announce which college he will be attending on Tuesday, March 31 or Wednesday, April 1 during the McDonalds All-American Game in Miami.
Stephenson is holding the record for all time scoring leader in the state of New York. His record stands at 2,946 points. Lance Stephenson is leaning towards going to college for one year. He is most likely going to Kansas but is still undecided. He has delayed his announcement on where his is going. It would be good for St. John if he chooses to go there, because they have been struggling lately. If Stephenson chooses St. Johns then he could really be a life saver to their basketball team. We recommend that he goes to St. Johns but the choice is up to him.

Villanova Wild Cats Final Four Run

Duke and Villanova went at it in the first half, but Villanova took over in the second half. Duke hit no 3 pointers to take the lead. Villanova had a very powerful center Cunningham. He had a great steal against Jon Shyer.

He ran down the court and dunked it over a Duke player, the final score Villanova-77 to Duke-65, It was a major upset. Now Villanova went to the Elite 8. Villanova had to play Pittsburgh, the game was great. The final score was Villanova-78 Pittsburgh-76. Now Villanova has to verse a very powerful team, the North Carolina tar heels.  It is going to be the best game ever. Only if the wild cats play excellent, one player needs to be on his game his name is Scottie Reynolds.
